What is a wifi qr code?
A WiFi QR code stores your network name, password and security type. Guests point their phone camera at it and join in about two seconds — no spelling out a 20-character password. Enter your details above and download the code as PNG or SVG.
How to create one
- 1Pick your network security type (WPA/WPA2 for almost every modern router, WEP for very old ones, or None for an open network).
- 2Type the network name (SSID) exactly as it appears on your device — it is case-sensitive.
- 3Enter the password. It is encoded into the image itself and never leaves your browser for a static code.
- 4Tick "hidden network" only if your router does not broadcast the SSID.
- 5Download as PNG for screens or SVG for print, then place it where guests will look.

Frequently asked questions
Does a WiFi QR code work on iPhone and Android?
Yes. iOS 11 and later reads WiFi QR codes with the built-in camera app. Android 10 and later does the same; older Android versions may need a QR scanner app or the "Share WiFi" feature in network settings.
Is it safe to put my WiFi password in a QR code?
The password is stored in the code in plain text, so anyone who can photograph the code can read it. Use it for a guest network rather than your main one, and place it where only the people you want on the network can see it.
What happens if I change my WiFi password?
A static WiFi QR code stops working and has to be reprinted. If you change passwords regularly, point a dynamic QR code at a small landing page that shows the current credentials — then you edit the page instead of reprinting the code.
How small can I print a WiFi QR code?
Keep the printed code at least 2 x 2 cm (0.8 x 0.8 in) and follow the 10:1 rule: scanning distance divided by ten gives the minimum width. A code scanned from 1 metre away needs to be about 10 cm wide.
